Those Who Know A Little Bit English Are In The Habit Of Calling Themselves Poets Poem by Bijay Kant Dubey

Those Who Know A Little Bit English Are In The Habit Of Calling Themselves Poets

Those who know English a bit,
Struggling to learn English,
None but they themselves
Present themselves
As poets and critics
And those half-learned,
Half-taught and half-schooled ultimately
Turn into the doyens
Of Indian English literature,
The stenos as biographers,
The copycats the poets
With the poems as parodies
Written in imitation,
The translators as essayists
Joining ideas.

Dear Mr Bijay Kant Dubey, We are helpless here... English is a language born in Britain, brought up in America, murdered in India and buried in South Africa, someone has said.. But it is only a joke. In fact 10 to 15 percent of quality books/works are penned down by Indian authors. We Indians have to contribute our little when the rest of the poets from the English speaking countries too are here only with average to above average proficiency in English. The P.H is not a platform for the erudite poets with sound hold over English and you can understand it from a random reading of poems. Anyways, your observation is thought provoking. Please, edit the title to make it smaller and poetic like your lines succeeding.... Please be submitting more relevant poems.
