Those Eyes Poem by Ashley Meers

Those Eyes

Rating: 5.0

Those eyes. The window to the soul.
The clever little things that decipher
The meaning of all.
The power to kill without taking a life.

Those eyes. The precious little gems
That lie attached to the imagination.
Colours of the rainbow, animals of the
world. The whole world, visible.

Those eyes. They used to glow.
They used to gleam and they used to show.
The passion and pride of a newly born.
But now just leave a woman scorn.

Those eyes. Once covered in dust
Sprinkled from the stars.
The transparent barrier between the past
and the future.
What future?

Those eyes. They used to see
The outside world. But now all
They look at is the darkness of the mind.
But the brain is a powerful force.

Those eyes. They used to see the
world. Yet now all they see is darkness.
My friends and family all heard not
saw. But I wouldn't have it any other way.

My eyes. My beautiful eyes now look
deep inside my soul. My dog on a leash
Held within my hand. I can't see
outside but know in my head what a
beautiful world we live in.
And I wouldn't have it any other way!

Absolutely a new way to look at the eyes and what the eyes can do. I love it. Thanks.
