THIS POEM IS FOR YOU MY WIFE

This poem is for you my wife
Only you
You alone
The one in my life now
The one who has been with me
For the past thirteen years
The one I pray for with all my soul
The one I love
For you –

And oh if only I had something more real
To give
Than a poem-
Myself all myself
But what is that?

We are two ‘incompetents’ you say
Perhaps you are right in one way
But in the deepest way
I don’t believe so-

I pray to God
That you will be well
Only that
Only that.
