this lack of trust,
from years of hurt and abuse
i try to let it go
but it's just no use
i get so confused
everything seems like lies
and not being able to trust
is one thing i despise.

this lack of trust
keeps me up all night
wondering, thinking..
should I give up or fight?
i want to believe
all the words that you say
i want to have faith
but it's been taken away.

this lack of trust,
i know it's upsetting,
but it's a direct result
of the pain I keep getting
when i finally give in
allow myself to believe
i get stabbed and punished
and brought to my knees

this lack of trust,
oh please be patient
because im definitly a risk
that needs to be taken
please give me your time
to build up my trust
because when it happens
we'll make a beautiful us.
