This Is What Life Is... Poem by Lenny Camacho

This Is What Life Is...

Rating: 4.8

There are so many things I do
that I do not want to do
There are so many things I want to do
that I am not doing
there is little time left on my sand clock
I guess I can use it for regrets
and to think of possibilities that will never be
one last grain of sand
I could've done more
I should've had the courage to...
one last breath
it was a good life, but it could've been better
Death befalls me
the game board is placed before my eyes
I was just a pon
adopting behaviors they provoked
adopting their 'dreams' as mine
accepting blind fears as facts of the future
educated for failure
forced to betray and abandon myself
this is what life is and has been, I think, at least for most of us

This is what I call poetry. The two other poems of the day, I read, have not evoked much in me but this, this captures the fruits of my subconscious. It's beautiful, honest and perfectly placed. The subject matter is one we all consider but not normally with this much clarity.

Most of us most of the time live other people’s lives from within our own skin

Nice poem. We are sometimes between two divides, that's life
