Thirty-One

Rating: 5.0

Thirty-one questions,
For the city boys who wander,
Or the angels in heaven,
Thirty-one songs,
Sang for the caring souls,
Or creatures found in wisdom’s eye,
Thirty-one stars,
To help us see,
See the beauty of night,
Thirty-one colors,
Wrapped up in paper,
And scribble one’s heart out,
Thirty-one cars,
Caught up in a symphony,
And horns blaring across,
Thirty-one endings,
In each day,
In every morning,
Thirty-one phones calls,
Never heard,
To tell of the ones that will never love you,
Thirty-one dreams I’ve had,
That you’d come again,
And save me from,
Thirty-one tears,
Thirty-one endless nights,
Thirty-one invitations,
To the lock on my heart,
Thirty-one pieces,
Pieces of gum,
Sticking me here,
On this lovesick pavement,
Of thirty-one guys.
