Thin Poem by Casey Stewart

Thin

We know that you are exhausted
Worn down to the bone you wander
Eyes glazed, hands worn
But please stay focused
Your stressed, pulled so thin
Listen to the wind ringing in your ears
Trying to push you down
It can be overwhelming
We know your dyeing slowly,
But everyone can resurrect
All you need is a warm sunny day
So just hold on a little farther
This merry-go-round keeps spinning
Your dizzy, you’re weeping
Eyelids are shutting and the world is tilting
Fading to black you sleep
Wake up again to do it all over again
The world is your frozen computer screen
Stuck on its replay
She’s got to get out
But you can’t reach her from here
Put down the margarita sister
And pretend you care
About your own future
Fancy cakes are slipping away
And boring books of policies are pilled high
Bureaucratic superstitious greed defines you
Your cage is made off fear and dollar bills
Bust through please and make a difference
I’m drifting in dreams and you will never wake up
