They Just Don'T Get It Poem by MAXINE P. SOSO

They Just Don'T Get It

Rating: 2.7

Children today
have gone astray but, hey
the mama's and papa's
can't seem to stop this

Their own rules, guns in school
smoking weed, some can't read
running here, running there
having sex, they don't care
about diseases, about AIDS
it's all about, the games they play

Fake I.D.'s, stealing keys
to your car, they go to far
drink and drive, ending lives
all in fun, YEAH! , they won
a free pass to the grave
because, of the choices they made
and, so they lay
in an eternal sleep, off the streets
leaving behind family and, friends
but, that's not the end
my friend

Another teen will be seen
in your dreams,
you know what that'll mean
Screen the next teen
who hang out on the streets
starting fights when they drink
and, they think that it's KOOL!
then, act like fools
turning on each other
their own sister and brother
an attempt should be made
to put these kids back
in their place, before
it's to late.
