They Are Selling Me Poem by Andytics mufc

They Are Selling Me

In the main hut
Negotiations are underway
Two plump cows and three bottles of an eotic liquor
Shall seal the deal
Confirming the brutal reality
That from today till eternity
I cease to own myself
I shall be the property of a creased and grey haired man
Who pranced into the compound an hour ago

Father is on cloud nine
To the core enjoying every microsecond of the tragic moment
To him a 50 year old dream is finally fulfilled
Two cattle!
At least a gallon of milk a day!
Maybe an Iron roofed hut!
Likely a young new wife!
Surely poverty shall never haunt the household again!

In the other hut
Mother and some elderly women
'Advising' me
To be obedient and submissive to my new grand pa
Oops! !
I mean my husband
They say he is my god
She deserves divine respect

As all these people
Wreck my world
A well of tears swell inside me
For my dream to be a nurse
Is slaughtered
