They And I Poem by Jose Chavez

They And I

They said that mountain had never been climbed
They said it was impossible
They ridiculed me for attempting
They mocked my effort for redemption
But still I went on
I continued on my journey
With my head humble
And the Lord by my side
I never gave up
For every time I needed inspiration
I simply looked at the sky
I pushed through even when failing seemed inevitable
Soon I found myself looking down at them
Yes looking down at
Those who ridiculed me
Those who said it couldn’t be done
I am now redeemed
I find myself all alone
On top of that mountain
Where no one had gone.
