There’s More To Life Than Death Poem by Hugh McMaster

There’s More To Life Than Death

Adrenalin pumping
Two wheels on the road
Engine throbbing
Mind overload

Over the ton now
But it’s got to end
Look for the wall
It’s just round the bend

The wall that will end things
The wall to release
All this pent up frustration
So these feelings will cease

Seems like the perfect
Way to go out
Swiftly and cleanly
Should be no doubt

But what if it isn’t?
And I don’t quite die
Would I be able?
To give it one more try

Now I’m uncertain
Which way to go
And I’ve passed the wall
How could I know?

My test is now over
And life carries on
Still driving the road now
But towards a new dawn

I know that I’ll make
The same mistake again
But next time there won’t
Be just as much pain

When it gets too much
Step back, take a breath
And try to remember
There’s more to life than death
