There Is A Poem In The Distance Poem by Shalom Freedman

There Is A Poem In The Distance

There is a poem in the distance
Whose light is receding
And can never be reached
It is gone forever
It is as if somehow it never has been
There is a lost poem
A poem that never was
A poem we only dreamed
A poem no one believes in
A poem that is not really a poem
But only some distant longing for some beauty
No one will ever attain
The poem that never was
And will never be again
The poem in the distance
Waiting for light and life
The poem without a name
That will never be a poem again
This poem that poem our poem your poem
The poem in the distance
The poem that is not here in my brain.
