Therapy Poem by Michelle Claus

Therapy

(drawn from my former work as a mental-health counselor)

Tether wound
Gather sorrow

Tomorrow is enigma
Yesterday, a scar

Press all that weighs
within trembling hands
to the pounding of chest
Heart beats frantic
like a caged creature
in a dark place

releasing
