Then, You Think Poem by Haley Ussery

Then, You Think

And then you think...
One more bottle, one more drink
Flood of tears and it make you think
No not me, no not I
No? Well then say good-bye!
Shattered families, ruined lives
Tarnished dreams, severed ties.
'Just one more' leads to ten
Next, there are bruises on her skin.
When will it end, you silly fool?

When will the light
Shine bright
Just bright enough for you to see?
Can you believe what it's doing to me?

Okay, so you've found a new friend
But, can't you hear my cries?
Can't you see my pain?
Oh no! It's all in vain!

I see you give in to its lusts,
See you cater to all its 'musts',
And all that's left is a shadow,
Cast against the wall,
And suddenly... you feel so small.

But then you think,
One more bottle, one more drink
Flood of tears and it makes you think,
No not me, no not I.
No? Well then say good-bye!
Shattered families, ruined lives
Tarnished dreams, severed ties.
'Just one more' leads to ten.
Next, there are bruises on her skin.

When? When, will it end, you silly fool...
