Their Prayers United Poem by Anu Joshy

Their Prayers United

Her eyes are misted,
Bound by an unknown grief she stands,
Tears hesitant to dropp down,
In her heart an ocean rolls,
Withstanding its rage a pearl is born,
Adorning her burdened lashes.

Her lazy curls fret on her brows,
Amid the redness of her marriage,
Her hero gives her a parting kiss,
She watches his receding steps,
As he sets off to wipe a nation’s sorrow.

Alone she walks back into their haven,
Her gaze fondling their fond memories,
The first step, fights and toys for their expected one,
Gently he smiles in their wedding photo,
As she feels his life pulsating from within.

Cannon balls haunt her silent dreams,
Sleepless nights, never ending mornings,
Her misty eyes running wild through newspapers,
Holding on to shaky hopes, dragging her forward,
Her unuttered prayers, awaiting his homecoming.

Somewhere beyond, boundaries apart,
Sharing her anxiety, with the same heart,
Hesitant tears, sorrowful farewell,
Fondling same bonds, waiting for her hero’s return,
Her reflection waits, their prayers united……….
