Their Lives Were Gifts Poem by Terence George Craddock (Spectral Images and Images Of Light)

Their Lives Were Gifts

Dr. Martin Luther King Jr.
was one of my earliest heroes
inspirations upholding beliefs;

I honoured cherished loved;
as was Mahatma Gandhi
Nelson Mandela reformers;

prophet guides path finders;
mapping important pivotal journeys
sacred freedom visionaries;

I respect all their lives trials;
doubts errors misdirections
realization ultimate triumphs;

I respect all their lives were gifts,
focused upon not always but usually
centred around only one major social

issue, time possibility dictates
choice, we must choose primary
and secondary goals, which will

define our personality, lives,
with years of sacrifice resolutions
to resolve change what we

may, leaving others the legacy
of caring for, maintaining
resolving that which we in our

own time lives could not
