The Year Of Magic Is Over Poem by Victoria Gauci

The Year Of Magic Is Over

I realized today that it's over,
What I felt for you is gone,
I don't really know what happened,
Everything went terribly wrong,

All those years of looking,
My search finally coming to an end,
My heart was an open invitation,
To my beloved long lost friend,

The year of magic is over,
Yet another gift was established,
To find a another friend in him,
Became more than my original wish,

Thirty years is a very long time,
To never give up a dream,
And all at once it was over,
With the words you started to scream,

In your life you've held tight to,
All the hurts and disappointments,
Not letting yourself be free of them,
You've become severly disjointed,

I can't imagine my life now,
Without this incredible bond,
For in him I have been given,
A friend I can really count on,

Will you be jealous and hate me,
For something you can't tear down,
It's deep, strong and ever so joyous,
A rare gift not easily found,

Right under your nose you have it,
And appreciate it not one bit,
Amazing and inspiring all the way,
He is truly a remarkable gift,

In light of the way things have progressed,
I know it could be sadly so,
That my visit with him in November,
May be the last I ever know,

Even so, I hold tight to the knowledge,
The he loves me for all that I am,
A friendship has planted itself deeply,
Even though you may not understand.
