The Writing On The Wall Poem by Michael Walker

The Writing On The Wall

We have read the writing on the wall,
Flickering upon white, silent screens,
Yet in the darkness we have heard the call.

All have been affected by the Fall,
As we have seen in many, many scenes,
For we have read the writing on the wall.

The universe gasps under death's cold pall,
And nothing can be everything it seems,
Yet in the darkness we have heard the call.

Though we small creatures keep on walking tall,
No one is as much as what he deems,
For we have read the writing on the wall.

Heaven and Hell are ends of the same hall,
So ends can never justify the means,
Yet in the darkness we have heard the call.

For the long haul, each face hid in a shawl,
We drift into the distant land of dreams,
For we have read the writing on the wall,
Yet in the darkness we have heard the call.
