The Word Sorry Poem by Francis Duggan

The Word Sorry

Too late to say sorry when the damage is done
When the parents do grieve for their young daughter and son
Who has been taken from them in such a cruel way
And sorry it is not a hard thing to say.

The five letter word sorry can be easily said
But sorry it never does bring back the dead
But when the word sorry is spoken sincere
To the offended one it can be nice for to hear.

Though damage done sorry does seldom erase
When called for it never does seem out of place
And when said with sincerity it does go some of the way
To ease some of the hurt in which you had a part to play.

The word sorry damage done may not repair
But at least it shows that you do genuinely care
About offence you have caused to someone
And one sorry said it is better than none.
