THE WINE BOTTLE
Hoping to augment our appetite, prior
to lunch time,
I tried with my friend, to open a bottle
of French Wine!
To celebrate the occasion with my Belgian
cut glass,
And to give those moments a touch of class!
But soon this had become an excercise in
patience and time,
With the cork, the opener and our strength,
all combined;
For the cork refused to budge and to leave
the bottle behind!
It was so securely fastened from outside in,
Though we pulled with all our might, -
With my patience running thin!
I felt that my guts would fly from inside
out;
When my friend's last efforts removed all
doubts!
For he both pulled and shook the cork
simultaneously,
When the cork responding began to move
up gradually!
Then finally with a pop the thing came
out, -
Was it worth all the effort, I am still
in doubt!
