The Winds Howling Poem by Raymond A Foss

The Winds Howling

Outside my closed window
the cold winds howling
a palpable reminding
of the changes now

So much of this emotion
passions overwhelming
the power of each voice
rising to be free

The call of our Savior
to follow his teaching
to heed the simple message
how we are to be redeemed

The law here to protect us
yet grace more important
to love one another
and to be humble before God

The light we carry
called to be his witness
the power to heal
in his holy name

We must stand
stand with the people
all who are repressed
who yearn to breathe free

Yet we cannot end with the tyrants
the shackles of the despots
the chains of our sin
weighing us down

True freedom coming
through the grace of our Savior
in following the lamb
who went to the cross

Shining his light
high up on the lampstand
offering hope
to the children of man

Though we are clay
salt of the earth
our voices sharing
the path to our birth

All of us able
worthy to see heaven
if we turn our lives
over to God

Submitting our wills
being his voice
his hands and his feet
to set free the world
