The Wheel Of Fortune Poem by Michael Saurer

The Wheel Of Fortune

D’you know about fortune
The goddess of luck
And ‘bout her wheel of faith
That bears all our names
From time to time
She whirls it round
Whoever’s on top
Receives her kiss
Whoever’s on bottom
Gets kicked by her feet

Hand me this wheel
I’d break it down
With a hammer of steel
Right under her crown

She does not like me
Or so it seems
Whenever my name
Is right on top
She whirls it again
To set me down
So that whenever
I get her kiss
She can set it straight
By kicking me thrice

I don’t care about that
She may kick me again
I just stand up like a cat
With a few lives that remain
