The Way Life Is Poem by Derrick Andrews

The Way Life Is

Life's trials and tribulations have all but worn me down,

my hopes an inhibitions lay in waste upon the ground,

and as if that wasn't enough, i had no one that cared,

only those who judged me on how well i fared,

and their judgments did all but crush my hopes,

nothing but convince me to dropp from the ropes,

of life, and lay on the floor, cold and shameful,

to pray that my end is slow and painful,

i feel i deserve that horrible end,

for a thousand apologies couldn't amend,

for the thousand and one wrongs i have committed,

I'm surprised my existence is even permitted,

i used to be kind, used to be nice,

but it seems nice guys lose more than twice,

a girl would rather have someone to treat her so badly,

than someone who would love her and be with her gladly,

so my heart locked up after many rejections,

further revealing my obvious imperfections,

it burns inside to know I'm not wanted,

to be laughed at, mocked, and even taunted,

so i fight daily battles, some i win, some i lose,

to myself and to others, whomever i choose,

if life were a school id surely be failing,

my sadness and grieving are surely prevailing,

and all i can do is weep deep inside,

refusing to show it, an forced to hide,

for weeping is a weakness my pride wont allow,

but ill get past that flaw, some way, some how,

i refuse to give up, i refuse to retreat,

for these problems are only foes, enemies to defeat,

so ill fight to the end, till the last, quaking breath,

i will never give up, even in death,

i can do nothing but try, futile it may be,

but i can not change who i am, i will always be me...
