The Water Fountain Poem by Vera Sidhwa

The Water Fountain

I drank from my glass filled with water,
I drank from the office water cooler.
So many people drank from water fountains.

Then I thought my thirst,
I could slake,
If I also drank water from cool lakes.

Then I drank so much cold water.
I drank from cold waterfalls.

But much to my surprise,
I thirsted for all the world’s waters,
That always existed.

I couldn’t fathom my inner self,
About slaking my thirst insatiable.
I couldn’t come to grips about,
These deep waters of my life.
