The Water Poem by Naveed Akram

The Water

Now you see the water and the river,
Straight and absolute, it will stick like ice,
Downwards the flow is moving,
Downwards is the force of gravity.
You can go over the edge and stammer
To see words in ongoing troubles.
That these engineers choose their trouble
Is a sin for the science of our books.
To be in knowing is to be hurt and curious,
The thirst of knowledge can manage a diet
That forces the world with words.
My river is that of the rivers of old,
And decades will trouble the unions.
