The Watchers Poem by Harlan Simantel

The Watchers

who's watching the watchers
the writers and news anchors
those questioning the debaters?

the watchers ask and accuse
and sit proudly immune, aloof
untouched by scandal
their entrails never examined
as damning, gotcha proof

untouched, never inspected
no microscopic lives
no glass house so we can criticize
their imperfect wives

it's a game they play
for ratings and millionaire pay
to provoke and ruin others
by what they twist and say
