The Wars Of The Rich Poem by Tim Vallie

The Wars Of The Rich

A clash of sword and shield, a test of flesh and soul
A spark becomes a fire, soon rages out of control
The war is fought power, this war is fought for land
The war is the rich men’s squabble, grown greatly out of hand
Now for honor and glory, the poor men march and fight
But the writers of the story, remain hidden, out of sight
War is the game of nobles, but it’s the poor who fight and die
The nobles feast and claim the honor, while the dead men’s loved ones cry
Poor men die for honor, but this honor is not their own
Though the glory is the nobles, raven’s feast of poor men’s bones
This is the way of honor, to fight for rich men’s pride
The warriors die for glory, while in castles noble’s hide
