The Walk Poem by Retro 308

The Walk

I waited for the tick and tock
For the light to present a message
To get the nod to grab my coat
And start the race to you

With carols heard and greetings made
We set off for the bridge
A short detour but river found
We set off on the walk

We talked and talked
And ambled on till hunger took a hold
A ship was sighted off Chiswick bridge
But it had never been in water

We climbed aboard
And sat inside and surveyed the scene beyond
We ate our hunters drunk our beer
Even complimenting the salad dressing

Eyes locked in and hearts in mouth
We finally posed the question
There was an interest in more than this
The burden finally unloaded

The day hay had gone we had to go
We layered up and left
Now hand in hand and feeling good
We set off for the bus
