The Vulture Poem by Barry Van Allen

The Vulture

Two years down the line,
they're still hoping for a story,
He has no more reputation,
- - - at his daughter's graduation,
those pointing fingers brought his wife to tears,
- - - the vulture said,
The public has a right to know!

I Wonder if the vultures' tune,
would sound the same to him,
if that same scrutiny were thrust upon HIS life ?
- - - if that got into HIS nest ?

Three years down the line,
they now know that there's no story,
and they have destroyed his reputation,
but, they are not libelous allegations ...
... according to the law !

BUT, he was just doing his job!

He sort of feels sorry ...
BUT, because he never really said that,
and certainly, not personally,
did he apologize - - -
felt no need to act as human,
- - - at least not in his writing!

Retraction is a swear - word !

I now inply that he is small in every way,
He is a boil on the buttocks of the universe,
whose impact on our culture,
is the same as nature's vultures,
- - - cleaning up the carrion,
The public has a right to know!

He let that lady take his fall,
that's no surprise to me at all,
... if you've ever met him,
you will forever sleep with one eye open!
