The Voices Poem by Louise Walker

The Voices

Rating: 5.0

The voices in my head are strong,
One thing here, one thing there.
Dragging my eyes towards the table,
The glistening blades' deep stare.

The voices in my head are strong,
Telling me 'do this, do that'
Two steps closer, one step back.
As cautious as a cat.

The voices in my head are strong,
Not cutting me any slack.
Almost there now they clearly say,
No chance you're going back.

The voices in my head are strong.
I've got here now it's time to go
Back to my bed and cut my wrist
To watch the thick blood flow.

She went away to a far away place.
She'd been waiting oh so long.
She's finally there now in that place.

The voices in her head were strong.
