The Universal Poem by Kevin Patrick

The Universal

Beached upon the distant third stone
Nestled slight half a parsec
Around the nuclear infernos
Of an irascible blooded star
Revolving down Orion's arm.

I've spent a quarter of a century
Negotiating, unknown territory
Without an astrolabe or Quadrant
To arrive at one end in fright
And the other, in strangers delight

Both Mystified and enlightened
That in the backwaters of this galaxy
Among a billion inanimate entities
There exists within a moment
Of infinitesimal minute seconds

A creature cable of breathing
And having multiple senses
With the faculties of language
That utters that singular miracle
Of universal wander - I am Alive

.............this is cosmic, universal and full of the mystery of life....when we look at the big picture.....so far we have found no other life in the universe...it's actually a miracle that earth even has life....if we were a little closer to, or farther from the sun...then I wouldn't have had a chance to read this wonderful poem...no wait this poem wouldn't be here for me to read....so I am going to count my blessings.....and say a little prayer of thanks, to the creator of life...oh and I loved reading this write.....you created a wonderful poem...
