The Tsunamis Within Poem by Aniruddha Pathak

The Tsunamis Within

Some helped; some sighed and settled down with life,
The storm came and razed all on its way laid—
And flattened that in defiance raised head,
Those survived were left searching life from strife.
This is the way world is, shall ever be,
This is the way of life, all existence,
Life in perennial search of new balance,
Normalcy it be or calamity;
But tsunamis in men forever rage—
No mere storm ‘pon seabed of emotions,
Deeper does it delve than deepest oceans,
Few can tame this dance of death on life's stage.
If man can do little on storms within,
Those without are beyond his powers to pin.

The tsunami tidal waves struck the Indian Ocean and South-East Asian countries following a massive earthquake off Sumatra, Indonesia in December 2004. Hundreds of thousand were dead. It showed, man that tamed nuclear energy, explored solar planets, built massive dams over rivers, and much more, is utterly helpless against the wrath of nature.
