The Truth Is Poem by LeonSt.John Thompson

The Truth Is

Rating: 5.0

I gave my paper to the teacher
She gave it back with letters spelt 'wrong'
I asked her if it was for number 2 or 4
She said no it was for all
All these schools present the same case
Marking X as soon as they see the color of my face
They don't want to put me on the debate team
Because they're afraid I'll start a physical fight
But why is it that I can't be apart of what
They're doing because I'm black not white

Truth is nowadays the church resembles
A racist school board
Don't wanna accept people who are trying to change
Because they used to be a killer
Don't want to invite them to a church picnic
Because they used to be a drinker
Don't want them to sing at prayer meeting
Cause they used to be a smoker
You don't want bad influence in the church
Yet you're a born sinner
Tell them 'I'm sorry, you have the wrong building'
Cause they're not wearing a tie or nice suit
Well God accepts people as they are
Not cause they came to church looking cute

Truth is we don't even care
Focused on being present at church
But it seems God isn't even present there

The journey of a thousand miles
Begins with the first step
The journey of spiritual growth
Is to first admit you need help
To be chosen for the army of God
Is an ultimate prize
Even of we're filthy, doubtful
wealthy or sanctified
The world needs a change
But we need much more for the Church
Because we've fallen short of the glory God
Since the creation of Earth

Truth is youth are afraid to change their generation
Only because they're afraid of the crowd
But I'm not afraid to worship God even if
It means praising Him by shouting out loud

They don't even wanna preach
Because people will stare, then start to discuss
About how they look
Just because they preaching in a tux
They don't even want to look up
Just scanning from the book of Hebrews
Feels like Obama appealing to a nuclear threat
Except he's standing from the pews

Why do we claim the church
Is the center of the community
To invite people in church and have them
Believe in the spiritual truth
truth is that the only Bible people
Are going to read is you

Truth is we don't look back
at the miracles God has done
Instead we boast
about the victories we won
We need to lessen the amount of times
We turn into professors, discussing religious doctrines
So we have more time to go out into the world
And learn what it's like to be a blessing

All I'm saying is that we're as fake
as artificial flowers
We look nice on the outside
Don't let the devil is claim you as his
I don't want you to feel offended
cause that's what the truth Is

Nicely done! I don't think God cares where you are or how you look when you speak to him. (Or her: -) ) Maybe he's just happy that you came to him in the first place!
