The Tragedy Of Anne Boleyn Poem by Serena Silenced

The Tragedy Of Anne Boleyn

Rating: 4.5

Let me tell you a short story about the tragedy of a queen named Anne. She once had a king in the palm of her hand.
She was a plain looking girl trained in the French queen's court. She adapted to their style and wit to which she did import.
She was presented as Catherine of Aragon's maid of honor. When she was introduced to the king his heart was a goner.
He was attracted beyond the reason of common sense; caught under the spell of her effervescence.
She had a mole, an extra digit; some whispered she was a witch.
She made enemies within his court; she could not find her niche.
Her miscarriage, her failure to give Henry a son, delivered an incredulous Anne to the Tower of London.
They defamed her accused her of most horrible things. Life can be uncertain when dealing with kings.
In her father's quest to move the family's status ahead- The vivacious Anne lost her queenly head.
While on the block, rather than to cry and plead in vain; she delivered a speech- perhaps held out hope for a reprieve that never came.
As the blade flashed cutting through flesh, muscle, and bone- I believe she wished she'd never sought the throne.
Anne and Henry had a romance that seemed to transcend.
But as Socrates once said, 'The hottest love has the coldest end.'
