The Town's Oldest Poet Poem by Francis Duggan

The Town's Oldest Poet

The town's oldest poet she was buried today
In the bosom of Nature she forever lay
One who was born and blessed with the great gift of song
To an old school of poetry she surely belong
The last of the town poets for to write in rhyme
Her verses have lived through the decades of time
Such beautiful poetry the poetess did write
For lovers of poetry to read and recite
Her beautiful poetry is full of her insight
In the bosom of Nature she is sleeping tonight
So many fine poems to her legendary name
Though she wrote for the love of it not for wealth or for fame
One can say of her with words she had a way
The town's oldest poet she was buried today.
