The Timeless Tale (Recommended) Poem by Ridah Ellahi

The Timeless Tale (Recommended)

They talk on kitchen tables
When they discuss the fables told
They talk of the one story
Time’s leash could not hold

They talk as the weather turns
They talk as the snow falls
They talk as the sun shines again
They talk as the earth crawls

Have you heard the story
Of the girl that once was
As fate once decided
To eat away with its claws

The girl that stood mightier
In the face of everything
From the brink, brim to the cusp
She let her soul’s cry sing

They talk of the flame that lived
Burning in all its might
They talk of the love that rose
As the strongest eagle’s flight

As the last rose wilts
They rest united in their graves
Their love eternal like the shore
Unscathed by the countless waves

They talk of the girl
That lived through it all
They only see the false façade
They stand blind to her last fall

They talk of their undying love
That survived the hypocritical times
Their story now remains alive
Forever, in these rhymes

Come sit with me now
I’ll tell you the great story
How they lived or fade away
In their search for endless glory

All they do is talk
Leaving an imperishable stain
Do you see this now, my love
Forever timeless, we remain
