The Three Day Tree Poem by Susan Williams

The Three Day Tree

Rating: 5.0

.
It was three morning-crisp days ago
three mystic autumn days ago
three frost-bitten days ago
three fallen days ago
when nothing was as it seemed
and seeming was better than seeing
and there was more to reality than senses could sense
It was that kind of morning-crisp mystic fallen autumn day
when nature slipped on another overcoat and
the tree turned from summer dress and garb
and became a Regency era beauty
all beclad and beclothed in gold
sunlight captured in every leaf
bedecked with the fall of life
a seasonal gypsy coming alive
dancing and swaying and plying its charms
clad in gold coin and romantic Romani veils
a natural bedlam more fetching than found
gleaming and sparkling in any moonspun dream
behold this bright sun-yellow tree
this vase of God's golden blessings
come to brighten the chill of fallen autumn days

What a wonderful read to wake-up to. Feeling the crisp air- -viewing the ever so slight changing hues...most often deep green to russet/gold....certainly makes for a canvas changing delight....somehow as i look out my window-on this falling morning - everything seems brighter, sharper and even my coffee tastes fantastic...it is as if all of my senses have been finely honed. Thank you for sharing your beyond wonderful words, Susan. You are a true golden hue - poet.

I'll tell you what is wonderful to read upon waking up- -a comment from Theo! ! ! ! ! ! ! Instant uplift! ! ! ! ! ! Thank you for the beautiful supportive words! ! ! ! The three day tree stands across the street, centered perfectly in my picture window. It has become my buddy, my weather vane, my solace on bad days. Plus it is the landing zone for all kinds and colors of birds as well as the climbing pole for all the squirrels in the neighborhood. I call it the three day tree because one year it took it only three days to go from green with a touch of gold in its foliage to being a shining totally gold tree. And it is beautifully shaped like a vase!

Hi Susan, A marvelous poem on 'fall', when every tree adorns herself with 'gold'. With the eyes, mind and heart kept open to the nature, you have captured its beauty in your fantastic words, that takes me back to my days in Delhi, where the four seasons are somewhat pronounced. Autumn comes after the fiercely hot summer and the summer showers, and just tells us that earth is ready to receive winter. Of course, even in the Northern cities of India (Barring Kashmir and the Himalayas) , you don't find snow. But winter is cold-too cold for us from Kerala. In Kerala, things are much different. We have beautiful Mediterranean climate here. Almost the same temperature round the year. We have just two seasons here- the rainy season and the non-rainy. Thanks to the two monsoons (the South West and South East Monsoons) , we have rains for almost six months continuously. Right from 01st of June till end November. And during the remaining 'summer' season too we get the summer showers. One is left to wonder about Mother Nature and her moods.10 for you.

Thank you so much for telling me about the climate of your hometown- it is well to be reminded that mankind lives in many different life conditions. About 150 miles to the north and then again 150 miles to the south of what I refer to as desert [after all, we have tumbling tumbleweeds rioting all over the sandy saged hills here] anyway,150 miles away In Portland and Seattle there is a lot of rain and they have the greenery to show for itself. But even those cities cannot compete with Kerala's rainfall! ! ! ! I am pleased you enjoyed this poem and thank you for the 10! ! ! ! ! ! ! ! ! ! ! ! ! ! ! ! ! ! ! ! ! ! ! ! ! ! ! ! ! ! ! ! ! ! ! !

Autumn is my favourite season. It's not just the wonderful colours, but that slight crispness in the air which seems to heighten your senses. You have expressed these feelings with great accuracy and beauty. This has to go on my favourite poems' list. In fact i might do a personal collection of Autumn poems. This would sit very comfortably next to Keats's Ode to Autumn, which I consider the best poem ever written in English,

Soran! ! ! Autumn is a beautiful season in many ways, is it not? ? ? - it is neither too hot nor too cold, it provides lovely colorful walks, and one can brew up some hot chocolate and gaze out the window at the birds leaving for better climates

Soran, This is the vase-shaped tree of several of my poems- -it lives across the street!

Definitely true, even one day can make thing different, Susan has seen the beauty in the autumn and everything belonging to the nature, all images here are fabulous, also we can interpret the autumn as the age of human and their inner beauties never fade, well done and have a top mark and into my treasure chest
