The thread of love
- - - - - - - - - - - -
Life leaves behind marks
And when I look back
I look for the substance
And see my parents'
Young appearance
Bubbling with smiles
Cradling two kids
In their heart
Cuddling, kissing
And singing lullaby
And I was listening
To them in silence

As I was also a child
Little knowing those kids
As my sisters behind
To love me and
Be loved by me
Looked for love and
Affection to be spared
For a moment for a while
And I grew up to see them
Tying thread on my hand
Every year this festive time

In fact I grew up
With the thread of love
Spun out to make life happier
Today we are far apart
Divided by distance
I may not see your faces
This full moon day
But you will always hold a place
Deep in my heart

Though we clasp not hand
And missing thread (Rakhi)
On my hand
Kumkum and blessed rice
On my head
May the world have for you
In store
A lot of gifts,
A lot of dreams
A lot of happiness
We have never dreamt of
Nor the God shall ever forget to bless………

Rakhi.... I feel is a great ritual reminding one of the eternal thread of love! The love, siblings have for each other is just matchless.... It too has a unique charm like any other love. Enjoyed reading your sweet wishes for your sisters who are drawn apart from you through geographical distance, but staying close to your heart!

even the distance doesn't have the power to break the bond and love between a brother and a sister. written in a subtle manner, this poem is beautiful creation. i like it, dear.

Beautiful poem reminding the thread of love...Rakhi... Yes, this festival has lot of meaning in our lives. You have portrayed it very beautifully, your love for your sister. God Bless you and your sister. Distance doesn't matter, but a place in heart is most important. On this day, I miss my brother, we lost him when he was child. Thanks for sharing this poem on this special occasion. Loved reading it.
