The Thing Known As Rhyme Poem by Francis Duggan

The Thing Known As Rhyme

The thing known as rhyme is not hard for to write
And easy to memorize and to recite
For as long as the rhythm and metre are right
A good rhyme poem can be a source of delight
Though the difference between the two not hard to tell
Many so called experts on poetry refer to rhyme as doggerel
Some will even tell you no kinship between a flower and a rose
There are so called experts on everything one must suppose
Music and rhyme poetry they do get along
And a good rhyming poem is the source of a song
Though anyone can be one of the great wordsmith trade
Some do say poets are born and cannot be made
Though some self professed experts cannot differentiate doggerel from rhyme
The words in the song seem to live on in time.
