The Terrorist Poem by Savita Tyagi

The Terrorist

Rating: 5.0

The terrorist - Raktabeej* malicious
Born of his own spilled blood -

In wicked human minds, devoid

Of humane and pious virtues,

Respects no boundaries and

Recognizes no barriers in cruelty.

A terrorist has no religion, no creed

No nationality, no caste and no heart.

Harbinger of poisonous ideology,
Masked with countless identities,

It's an acid thrown with vengeance,

From unmarked hands upon decency.

He tramples upon nobility of thought,

Rooted in human mind that nurtures

Instinct of freedom and compassion.
He longs to extinguish the light that

Embraces the art and literature to breathe

Life upon altar where love is worshiped.

Let us protect the light of altruism

That burns in millions of kindred hearts,
From a much despised ruthless invader.

Let us allow wisdom to block the terror,

To rise in solidarity with like minds,

Invincible and strong like a solid rock.

* Raktabeej was an Asura (demon) . His story is narrated in Ancient Sanskrit book 'Devi Mahatamyam'.

POET'S NOTES ABOUT THE POEM
Recently I took part in a poetry/anthology ebook project ' Poetry Against Terror ', launched by Dr. Fabrizio Frosini. Sixty four writer/ poets from forty two countries expressed their thoughts and emotions to raise awareness of terrorism and its affects from various angles. The book is written simply as a tribute to show support and solidarity for the pain and suffering of countless innocent victims and their cause.
The ebook is available through Amazon. com. to down load. Below is little more information about it.

Wishing all my readers a happy holidays and a happy new year filled with peace and joy.

COMMENTS OF THE POEM

Life upon alter where love is worshiped.

.........hmm. i think you want altar (noun) , not alter (verb) here. i guess speaking out against terrorism does not hurt, but without action (the military, the police, the improvement of lives of those who may be lured into terrorism, and mental health programs) terrorism will continue. and perhaps with all the forces available, terrorism will continue, be it by a large organized group or by individuals acting on their own. i'll stick this into AUGUST'S 2016 showcase for PH poets, on my site. thanks. bri :)

Thanks Bri for your realistic comment. Even if we can't eliminate the problems of violence, terrorism or wars, still doing our best to get some relief from it is the least that we can do. Thanks for catching the mistake on alter. I will fix it to altar.

We can be proud that we could voice our indignation on a topic that poses a real threat to world peace namely TERRORISM........ When thinking minds give out their anxiety over how terrorism can create anarchy to the world and highlight the need for a peaceful tomorrow, it will definitely create at least some ripples in the minds of many! Evil should be shunned by all and there should be a mass move to ward off terrorism. Let the world realize that 'Peace hath her victories, no less renowned than war'! Without blood shed we can wage wars against poverty, disease and unemployment and our conquest over them brings peace to mankind. This poem denouncing terrorism is quite powerful Savita! The initiative taken by Dr. Fabrizio Frosini to bring out such a book is to be congratulated and I am happy, I too could voice my protest against Terrorism through a poem and be a humble contributor to that ebook.
