The Taste Of Words Poem by Daniel Y.

The Taste Of Words

While rhyme is not the essence of it
'we may agree, it is the honey of it'
what a sweet tooth have children, true.
but too much rhyme will be the death of you.

The umami taste, ad hoc, I prefer.
with bit of honey glazed.
or better yet
syntaxless
dripping
garlic bread
to dip in a metaphor
soup.

How bland that candy seems to me
when swallowed daily
and too nauseous filling.
Life is like a wine,
it is an acquired taste
and not much good to children.
