The Sweet Elixir Of Life Poem by Jackie Allen

The Sweet Elixir Of Life

Lying in your arms I trace
The incline of your love light’s face;
And, as your exuberance spills over into mine,
Our two bodies, thirstily, hungrily, are primed.

The scent of the moonflower
Rings out the sweet intent of the bell tower~
We are but tendrils of trembling desire
As our bodies climb emotion’s shrine, higher and higher.

Shooting stars pierce the lace
Of midnight, revealing the commitment of our embrace
For the music of our union announces romance’s invite;
And, in spite of the tension, we salute the elixir of the night.

Now our hearts are beating in eye rhyme,
While through our veins flow love’s finest wine;
We drink of the elixir of the moment,
And are emotionally charged with excitement.

In wonderment, we cling to each other throughout the night,
Our intimacy echoing long hours past daylight.
While love’s ambrosia has intoxicated us, the fantasy
Has collapsed, for we have entered the gates of ecstasy.
