in the garden
the children watched
amazed and enchanted
little white hands clasped together
lips pursed in excitement
in the pond, aware but not caring
the swan stode, elegant and beautiful
all those tiny greedy eyes on her
she knew how to put on a good show
as the llittle crowd watched
the swan with extra grace and charm
bent her long whie neck
and took a sip
from the silent pond
