The Surreptitious Side Poem by Dustin Nesom

The Surreptitious Side

Everyone alive was given a life, it was not their choice.

So choose neither dark nor light.

There are more then two sides of this coin we call life,

So in order to find the other side one must follow twilight.

This twilight of which I speak is not just a side,

but the side that nobody expects the coin to land on...

This side is neither head nor tails,

but rather the side that lands upright and erect.

Not only does it throw people off when this phenomena occurs,

but creates a sense of awe that is irreplaceable.

Stay in the twilight, which is the undecided coin toss,

the coin toss that does not choose a side, and let it be your clandestine side.

Why choose a side? ; Sides are not meant to be chosen, but are nonetheless.

Choosing a side only shows your willing to live your life how another wishes. (fate)

But allowing twilight to become your side is something not every one can do,

Because twilight has a way of defying fate.

Do not think when you flip a coin it will land on heads or tails, but

think that it won't land on either until it does.

You never get one side all the time for a reason, and

That reason is because a balance is needed.

The clandestine side is also needed for this balance.

This side is only needed when twilight sees fit.

Nothing is preventing you from being that somebody and creating a new side that can be considered as great as heads and tails,

But does not contrast in their overall beauty.

Capture their beauty in your own way, and make something that will prove your uniquness in the truest form.

Land on the clandestine side and defy all logic.

Though I do not know who this person will be who finally creates this side,

I do know that through twilight, or god's will, anything can be accomplished.

Become the very clandestine side itself,

and embody a sense of uniqueness not found in just one coin.

Create your own coin side...

Create your own destiny.

And then, only then, will you be considered the surreptious side yourself =].
