The Surface Of The Sun (A Memory) Poem by J.M Berger

The Surface Of The Sun (A Memory)

We were flailing in a pit of despair
Burnt alive, fighting for air
Doomed from the start, I swear
Losing consciousness, we fell into a cosmic haze

Looking back at the star miles away
How we had survived I could not say
A cosmic suicide squeeze play
We lost ourselves, floating star to star

Stuck in a void
Galactic abyss
Floating so long without purpose
‘Til I saw the princess
