The Stranger's Love Story Poem by Mary Jesusa Villegas

The very first day
with your geography book and school bag
and a stranger
not to your friends
but to yourself.

The Girl Stranger
to Herself
will be in love
with the smile of
a Boy Stranger
to Himself
on the very first day
with your geography book
at the top of your school bag.

But they realized after
the torch of excitement
has gone
Handing the diploma
They're both strangers
to each other
too.
And they chose to become strangers
to each other until
they become the narrator
and the main character
in their own story.

The stranger will not be
anymore stranger
to itself
And the Girl Stranger
not anymore
to herself
wants to reunite
with The Boy Stranger
not anymore
to himself
whom she fell in love with, yesterday
But they realized after
the torch of excitement
has gone
That they're both
Strangers to each other
Since the time began.

And soon after
the final winter
has come to an end
They will realize that
they're really not strangers
to each other
They loved,
each other.
But chose to remain
Strangers
forever after.
