The Straight And Narrow Poem by Hannah Shier

The Straight And Narrow

To walk a straight line
is not an easy task.
In the long run,
you will, most likely,
run into bumps and dips
that will try to
throw you off your path -
and they will mostly succeed.
The best thing you can do?
March back to that line,
get back on it, and continue.
Continue without the holding of grudges
or the seething of rage inside you.
To walk a straight line
is not an easy task.
You will stumble, trip, and fall
and you will want to be angry,
angry at those who did it,
and, over all, just want to give up, to quit.
But don't do it.
Because while to walk a straight line
is not an easy task,
in the end, to see what you have accomplished,
to see where you have ended up
from where you have started -
it's all worth it.
