Once upon a time; there was a dime,
This traveled from pocket to pocket.
It had its own fame, and a widespread name,
That no one ever dared to mock it.
It gave us joy; it was not a toy,
It was something to keep with pride.
It made us glad; it could make us mad,
It was something we had to hide.
Sharing it was tough; it made people bluff,
It was envied by one and all.
If it was passed a lot; or made a lot,
Somehow its value would fall.
It became a need; a strong creed,
And overruled the world of trust.
Lies were born; relations were torn,
From love it turned into lust.
This dime created; a world that is hated,
In a strange sort of way.
It made history; I do agree,
But it will destroy humanity one day.
