The Storm's Over Poem by Christina Simmons

The Storm's Over

Rating: 5.0

Mama Africa, Mama Africa now that the storm is over answer the prayers
Of your people hear their cries, listen to their moans and groans
Show compassion together with understanding give some consideration,
Consolidation would not go amiss either
Do away with all fears have no regrets neutral as sin: the storm
Is over, the storm is over

Struggling, dragging the heavy load perspiring none stop, it's been
A long hard sluggish time, not gonna lie to you it's hard
Sheer martyrdom nonsense work, work! Sometimes rather lengthy
And at best is predominately tiring making us fatigue far out! Peace for you peace for me: grovel, sweating, blood streaming down our face, all around and above deep inside our being: keep on going not stopping for a breather

Caused being pulled by Mama Mama Africa Mama Africa shaking us awake
Open your eyes, bright is the new dawn, hold your head up high Tomorrow is another day

Have no fear feel strength rising from every muscle and vein way down deep within our core: no, no stopping for a breather keep on, right on....Mind-set one dimensional got to achieve a common goal focus never looking back A thing of the past but where it all began Mama Africa, Mama Africa

All live stock are of Mama Africa, Mama Africa never forget where it all started. Where we're heading roads are not pave with gold, it's not all with good intentions instead in our way we're faced with rubble, rocky terrain, spiralling flying objects dodging from side to side the path is never straight forward

Put on your boxing glove, simply boxing all obstacles out of the way away from the track and look at them full-on: I'm in eye of the storm move out of myway

Fear not Mama Africa, Mama Africa no longer are you in bondage, no more are we bound to chains restricting movement breathe and celebrate. Free to flourish spread your wings and fly, freedom Mama Africa, Mama Africa! Free at last, free at last Mama Africa, Mama Africa! Get off your knees cause you don't have to stay down any- more, don't soil your psyche any longer drop the burden

rest them on my lap: touch your heart and smile at your organs you deserve it Mama Africa, Mama Africa you never were deserted dry your eyes cry no more. Stop your bawling, stop your wailing sound so grotesque now; no more tears running down your cheeks special as the day you were born sunshine here is so precious

Held in great honour I've not forgotten nor left you alone
Mama Africa, Mama Africa I haven't left you out in the cold though feeling used like trash, chewed and spat out, being treated as though you're garbage

Mama Africa, Mama Africa hold your head up high high above the clouds I'm pleading with you. Rescued, saved, released from mere destruction but our mind is still fragmented Soul seems dormant, stagnant not free to reached out jumping for joy: day after day frown upon made to feel and behave like an alien on every continent open your ears
hear my plead cries go unheard I'm begging for your attention thrown in my direction don't wander away give me a place of my own, a land to call home.

Give me pastures green where I'll have no restrictions come and go as I please without becoming a prisoner - Provide me with a border to rest my weary head somewhere I'll be given closure followed by peace Mama Mama Africa, Mama Africa I love you Mama Africa
