The Status Quo Will Remain Poem by Francis Duggan

The Status Quo Will Remain

In any of the major political parties nothing to enthuse about in i do see
And who will be the next Australian Government it matters none to me
Or who will be the Prime Minister Kevin Rudd or the present incumbent John Howard
They both share one thing in common they desire to be empowered
To Australia's highest office the lust for power is an addictive thing
But of the praises of the power hungry do not ask me for to sing
For even if there is a change of Government the status quo will remain
The have nots of Australia will not be those who stand to gain
From any change in Government since a fair go to them by Governments for decades has been denied
They will always be at the wrong end of the social divide
Most politicians are self serving they seek wealth and power and fame
But that there are many homeless people in Australian Cities does seem a thing of shame
And who wins the next Federal Election why should i even care
For in the spoils of victory i am one of those who cannot share.
